Plans for NYC are Well Underway:
National Youth Conference will be held in July and the MO/ARK District is supporting a delegation to go. We have plans for youth from Warrensburg, Spring Branch, Messiah, and Nueva Vida to attend along with 3 adult leaders: Gretchen Knaus, Clyde Paddock, and Jerry Crouse. Please pray for this group as they finalize the transportation arrangements and head out.
The worship service on Monday morning, July 19, will be live broadcasted via the Internet. This worship Service will feature the winners of the youth speech contest and the music contest winner. Details on how to access this webcast will be shared in the next few weeks.
June 20, 2010 is the Sunday set aside for congregations to pray for and commission their NYC participants. Resources will be posted by June 7 at www.brethren.org/nycresources
Camp Scheduled for August:
Camp Hammond Mill will be the destination for many campers from MO/ARK district on August 1. It’s time for all congregations to encourage their youth to plan to attend the weeklong event.
The theme for this year will be: “ How Can We Be Silent?” Cost for the week will be $85 per camper. Volunteer leadership will have no charge. Those 13 and older that plan to go on the canoe trip will need an additional $20.
The Peace Travel Team is booked to be with us for the week. Many of our youth will remember how much fun it was the last time a Peace Travel Team was part of our camp leadership!!
Registration Forms are now available online. These will also come to you in a separate email with attachments. Print off as many copies as you need and send them to Stephanie Sappington, Camp Manager.
Stephanie is still searching for a camp nurse. Please help her find the right person for this important job.
Pastors’ Retreat Planned for October:
The Ministry Task Force is planning a retreat for all ministers and their spouses to be held October 22 and 23. Spring Branch will host the group. Paul Roth from Virginia will be our guest leader. Please mark your calendars now. More details to follow in the coming weeks.
Remember in Prayer:
Please remember Jerry Schuster, Greenwood pastor, who had a hip replaced on May 20. Also remember Pat Dennison, St. Joseph congregation, who will have eye surgery soon.
District Administrator is Recovering:
I’d like to thank all of you for the prayers, cards, and calls I have received at the time of my surgery for total hip replacement. It is a slow recovery, but I can see progress each day and look forward to the time that I can stand up straight and walk without a limp. I’m busy with physical therapy 3 days per week, but am trying to be in the district office most days. Don’t hesitate to call or email if you have needs or questions. (Carolyn Schrock)
